Students back ͯÑÕÊÓƵ with second consecutive clean sweep in national university survey

Students have given the University a powerful vote of confidence in the 2026 National Student Survey (NSS), with improvements across every aspect of experience

8 July 2026

Published today, the results show final-year students rating their experience more positively across all seven published NSS themes, with particularly strong gains in organisation and management, student voice, academic support, and assessment and feedback.

The strong results build on a series of student accolades for ͯÑÕÊÓƵ over the past year, including being named the UK's most LGBTQ+ friendly university, and being voted the best university in Europe by international students. ͯÑÕÊÓƵ was also named one of the Top 50 cities in the World by Time Out and in the Top 10 for studentlife in the Uni Compare rankings. In May the ͯÑÕÊÓƵ Boost programme was awarded Bronze at the 2026 Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs).

Masters students at ͯÑÕÊÓƵ also gave the university it’s highest ever overall satisfaction score in the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES), with satisfaction rising to 86.8%.

Professor David Walker, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students) at the ͯÑÕÊÓƵ, said:

"These results are a powerful endorsement from our students and a recognition of the distinctive experience we provide at ͯÑÕÊÓƵ.

"To improve across every theme for the second consecutive year is a remarkable achievement. It shows that students are seeing the difference being made across the University and that the changes we are making are having a real impact on their experience.

"From inspiring teaching and strong academic support to our commitment to listening to students and acting on their feedback, these results reflect the dedication of colleagues across ͯÑÕÊÓƵ and our determination to provide the very best experience for our students

"We are incredibly proud of this progress, but most importantly we are proud that our students are telling us they feel increasingly supported, engaged and able to succeed."

The NSS is the UK's largest survey of final-year undergraduate students and provides important insight into students' experiences of higher education. The results are widely used by prospective students, parents and advisers, and contribute to assessments of quality and performance across the sector.

The University continues to invest in initiatives designed to help students succeed, including its award-winning ͯÑÕÊÓƵ Boost programme, which provides financial and practical support to students throughout their studies.

Today's results represent another important milestone in ͯÑÕÊÓƵ's commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience and building on the momentum behind its Distinctively ͯÑÕÊÓƵ strategy.
