The awards from the Sussex Council of Training Providers celebrated the achievements and success stories of apprentices across the city, as well as exceptional contributions from employers and education providers that make apprenticeships and traineeships a success.
Meghann Creffield won the award for Outstanding Contribution by an Apprentice to an Employer, after the Biomedical Science Degree Apprenticeship graduate was nominated by Royal Sussex County Hospital pathology department where she works.
Her citation said: “Meghann’s project on procalcitonin had a direct impact on the treatment of patients with COVID-19, and enabled our Biochemistry department to add procalcitonin to the test repertoire now included on the admission bloods for patients with COVID-19.
Meghann was in her final year of the Biomedical Science Degree when the COVID pandemic hit. There were lots of pressures at work and changes in shifts patterns. Meghann took this all in her stride, completing her project and her final year - all whilst raising a family.”
