The Professionals Award, which recognises a commitment to professionalism and positivity to deliver positive outcomes and results in challenging circumstances, was awarded to The Doctoral College, with judges praising ‘a dynamic team effort dedicated to maintaining the department’s responsive service’.
Lorraine Slater, Research Student Officer (Recruitment and Researcher Development) in The Doctoral College, was given The Integrity Award, which recognises integrity and commitment to openness and honesty. Lorraine was honoured for her work on Postgraduate Research (PGR) COVID-19 communications across multiple digital channels, including a dedicated blog which was shared with the University Alliance.
The seven awards were based on a set of principles co-created by member Vice-Chancellors earlier in the year. Members of UA were asked to nominate colleagues from across their institution for each of the awards and a judging panel made up of representatives from the membership were asked to judge the finalists. Winners will receive a specially commissioned University Alliance medal made by Birmingham City University’s Jewellery School.
