“We are massively enthusiastic to be involved in the Community Parade and to show our support for a celebration that is so important for many of us at the university. We are enormously proud of our ongoing work to advance LGBT+ equality in our institution and in the UK and internationally through our sector-leading research.
“We are committed to breaking down barriers and improving the experience of LGBT+ staff and students at the university.”
Professor Humphris added: “We support PhDs on LGB and trans issues and have hosted the Trans, Non-Binary and Intersex Conference. We are also a long-standing Stonewall Diversity Champion which dovetails with the theme of this year’s Pride celebrations.”
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Inn uprising in New York that ignited the Pride movement and headlining Pride in the Park on Saturday is Kylie Minogue, an ally of the LGBT community who is also celebrating her fifth decade.
