Using the Race Equality Charter (REC) we continue to look at how we can improve the representation and success of Minority Ethnic staff and students.

We currently hold a Silver REC award. Our five-year action plan aims to create long-term cultural change across the university.

By addressing the inbuilt, systemic racism in our history books we can start to challenge and oppose ingrained ideas. Only then can we start to decolonise and diversify our programmes of study and have a better representation of how the world is.

In order to approach change effectively, we must first focus on the different experiences and outcomes students have.

By challenging the sector and institutional norms we can begin to acknowledge the varying experiences of our Minority Ethnic students, and how we can create better ones.

Staff work hard to support and offer students the best experiences whilst at university. We are proud to have a diverse employee base and want every colleague to feel supported and represented. But we are honest that we need better representation of Minority Ethnic staff across the university.

Students are at the heart of everything we do. Making sure there is enough of the right support for everyone is crucial.

Our Identity Match Mentoring programme, amongst other initiatives, offers students a unique support opportunity with an experienced professional they can identify with.

The university has zero tolerance for bullying, discrimination and harassment. Students can report incidents via the online disclosure form on our website. We encourage colleagues to report any incidents of racial discrimination or harassment through their line manager or HR.

We are supporting the diverse demographic of students and staff across the whole of the 童颜视频. We also know there’s a long way to go in tackling racism and racial inequalities within your university – but we won’t stop until we win the fight.
