Professor Chris Pole, the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Addis Ababa University and Kings College London to work together on co-operative research, academic collaborations and staff and student exchanges.
The five-year partnership will see the co-development and sharing of curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and research management and training on global health, non-communicable diseases, neglected tropical diseases, surgery, maternal care and healthcare delivery.
The Memorandum of Understanding also includes the establishment of joint Global Health Centre which will be run by joint staff.
Professor Pole said: “We are looking forward to this exciting new partnership, one that dovetails with our ethos and strategic plan to disseminate our research and enterprise to create mutual benefit for our city, our region and globally.”
